Diamonds, The other white meat.
Diamonds have long been touted by the diamond industry as the stone for romance, love, promises, remembrances, and hierlooms. The belief is they are rare, but they are really NOT rare. They are found throughout the world. Marketing has done wonders for the Diamond industry, but there are many stones that are more rare than diamonds that never get the press diamonds do. Lives are lost, wars are fought, and people are damaged due to the feeding frenzy in the diamond fields. This reminds me of the days of the Gold rushes, with the differences having to do with technology and really BIG business. My Geology classes at MSU taught me to look for stones that really appeal to me personally instead of following the tired old marketing monopoly regarding diamonds. As a person who is on the wedding track, I am definately NOT looking for a diamond in my wedding ring. I am following the "road less traveled" in most of my life, and this will certainly be No exception. Being somewhat of a rebel, I really appreciate this type of a challenge to look at other types of stones. I challenge anyone else to do the same!
